Children's Policy

Strict 18+ Policy

At Velvet, we are committed to providing a safe environment for adults to connect. Our platform is designed exclusively for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We take our responsibility to protect minors seriously and have implemented strict measures to ensure our platform remains an adults-only space.

Age Verification

We employ multiple methods to verify the age of our users:

• During registration, all users must confirm they are at least 18 years old
• We use automated systems to detect potentially underage users
• Our moderation team reviews profiles that are flagged as potentially belonging to minors
• We may request additional verification from users whose age is in question

Any account suspected of belonging to someone under 18 will be immediately suspended pending verification. If we confirm a user is underage, their account will be permanently deleted, and they will be prohibited from creating a new account until they reach the age of 18.

No Content Featuring Minors

To maintain a safe environment and comply with legal requirements, we strictly prohibit:

• Any images or videos featuring individuals under 18 years of age, even if they are in the background or are family members
• Any content that sexualizes or exploits minors in any way
• Any discussions about minors in a sexual or romantic context
• Any attempts to contact or communicate with minors through our platform

As outlined in our Community Guidelines, profiles containing images of children will be asked to remove such content immediately. Failure to comply will result in account suspension.

Zero Tolerance for CSAM

We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). This includes:

• Any pornographic or sexually suggestive photos of persons under the age of 18
• Any content that depicts, encourages, or promotes sexual activity with minors
• Any content that sexualizes minors in any way

If such content is detected on our platform, we will:

• Immediately remove the content
• Permanently ban the user who shared it
• Report the incident to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)
• Cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in appropriate jurisdictions

Reporting Concerns

If you encounter any content that you believe:

• Features someone under 18 years of age
• Depicts or sexualizes minors
• Indicates that a user may be underage

Please report it immediately using our in-app reporting feature or by contacting our support team at support@thevelvetapp.com. All reports are handled with the utmost seriousness and confidentiality.

Parental Controls

While Velvet is strictly for adults, we understand that parents and guardians may be concerned about their children accessing dating apps. We encourage the use of parental control software and device settings to prevent minors from downloading or accessing adult applications.

Our app is clearly marked as 18+ in all app stores, and we support age verification systems implemented by mobile platforms.

Legal Compliance

Velvet complies with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the protection of minors, including:

• The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
• The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act
• EU regulations on the protection of minors online
• Local and international laws regarding child protection

We regularly review and update our policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving legal requirements.
